This work is not just what I do.
It is what I was called to.

Meet Lauren Williams — Founder & Owner of Sankofa Birthing Circle
I am a traditional, holistic, community doula and educator, devoted to supporting women and their families through one of the most transformative seasons of their lives.
My practice is rooted in the understanding that birth is not only physical — it is emotional, mental, and deeply spiritual.

My work is grounded in a foundation of traditional science, education, and public health. With a background in health sciences and a deep commitment to maternal wellness, I bring evidence-based knowledge together with ancestral birth practices to serve my families.
I have been a doula my whole life in spirit, and have been practicing professionally since 2023 — having had the honor of serving over 20 families and counting.
As a certified breastfeeding peer counselor, I also walk alongside mothers through their feeding journeys — offering encouragement, practical guidance, and evidence-based support from those first tender days and beyond.
I believe:
Women and families deserve to feel informed, not overwhelmed.
I believe the body holds wisdom.
I believe preparation changes outcomes.
I believe community changes everything.

My work brings together:
Ancestral birth practices
Evidence-based education
Mind-body awareness
Herbal support & holistic wellness
Emotional and spiritual support
This allows me to support women and families in a way that is both grounded and deeply intuitive.

I do this work because too many women are entering birth feeling unprepared, unheard, and disconnected from their own power.
That should not be the norm.
Birth should be something women and families move through with support, clarity, and confidence.
Sankofa Birthing Circle is not just a service.
It is a space for women and families to return to themselves.
